Monday, July 27th, 2009: There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Danny Irwin, the Windsor shortstop, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Western League Player of the Week honors.
Irwin piled up 11 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs while hitting .393.
So far this season Irwin has gotten 41 hits in 170 at-bats for a .241 batting average with 4 home runs. His stats include 25 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 45 games. |

Monday, July 27th, 2009: At the age of 30, Alfredo Madrid might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Waterloo first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .423 batting average. For his efforts Madrid collected the Eastern League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 11 hits in 26 at-bats, 2 home runs and 9 RBIs last week in 6 games.
This season Madrid is batting .325 with 26 hits, 4 home runs, 18 RBIs, .386 OBP and has scored 11 runs. |
 | Diamond Dawgs Center Fielder Ramírez Hurt
Sunday, July 26th, 2009: The injury bug struck Sergio Ramírez of the Diamond Dawgs today in the game against Mooseheads. The 30-year-old center fielder was hurt while running the bases and will miss 4-5 months with a broken kneecap.
In his season totals, Ramírez has 10 home runs, .292 BA, .365 OBP, 58 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has played in 102 games. |
