Monday, April 12th, 2010: There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Johnny Mize, the Philadelphia first baseman, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the American League Player of the Week honors.
Mize piled up 12 hits in 23 at-bats, 3 home runs and 8 RBIs while hitting .522.

Monday, April 12th, 2010: At the age of 27, Nap Lajoie might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Toronto shortstop put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .593 batting average. For his efforts Lajoie collected the Canadian League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 16 hits in 27 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 6 games.

 | Gelser Jr. Rips Victoria for 5 Hits
Sunday, April 11th, 2010: Peter Gelser Jr. put on a hitting clinic today as the Cannons dumped the Vulcans 14-5 at Roadrunners Ballpark. The Calgary shortstop sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Victoria pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.
He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
Peter Gelser Jr. singled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Gelser Jr. is hitting .500 with no home runs and 1 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .607 clip and scored 7 runs.
