More Woes For Buffaleos Dave Walton Sunday, July 19th, 2009: The University of Colorado Buffaleos announced today that right fielder Dave Walton will not be returning as quickly as expected from injury. "There was a bit of a setback, but nothing to be concerned about," one team official told reporters. "Dave will probably miss another one week because of this, but everyone expects him to make a full recovery."
Sergio Pérez Chosen D1's Best Hitter Saturday, July 18th, 2009: The Division 1 Outstanding Hitter Award has been picked for 2009 and the winner is University of Alabama at Birmingham center fielder Sergio Pérez.
He finished his outstanding season with a .311 batting average, 59 hits, 32 home runs, 61 RBIs, .418 OBP and 52 runs scored.
Rehab Road Tough For Buffaleos Dave Walton Saturday, July 18th, 2009: Dave Walton's return to the University of Colorado Buffaleos has been delayed. The 21-year-old right fielder has been in treatment for a partially torn labrum and was responding well until he suffered sharp pains during a light workout. Upon examination by team doctors they reported that there had been further damage and Walton would not be back as originally diagnosed. He would now be out at least one week.
